IS YOUR KID UNDERHYDRATED? THE NEW PLANT-POWERED BEVERAGE, CREATIVE ROOTS, IS HERE TO HELP

University of Connecticut study reveals Creative Roots helps to provide the hydration kids need in the delicious flavors they love

PITTSBURGH & CHICAGO – (JUNE 23, 2020) – According to the American Journal of Public Health*, 1 in 2 kids is underhydrated. This may be because parents can have a hard time finding a drink they feel good about serving to their kids. That’s where Creative Roots comes in — the plant-powered kids beverage with all-natural ingredients and 1 gram of sugar**.

“Keeping your children hydrated throughout a busy day is not always easy,” noted Dr. Douglas J. Casa, hydration researcher for more than 25 years and CEO of the Korey Stringer Institute (KSI) at the University of Connecticut. “We conducted a hydration-focused research study on hydration which indicated Creative Roots was a good option to help kids improve their hydration throughout daily living, which is something we at KSI are always striving toward.”

The study from Dr. Casa and his team titled, “Nutrition, Urinary Markers and Sleep Habits in Children***” observed a group of 46 kids who were provided a bottle of Creative Roots at mealtime and access to the drink at other times during the day. The study concluded that providing access to Creative Roots drinks improved hydration. The preliminary study results also revealed:

  • Nine out of 10 kids would recommend Creative Roots to a friend.
  • Seven out of 10 kids would ask their parents to buy Creative Roots.

“Today’s beverage market is saturated with products promoting great-tasting hydration for adults. We identified a need to develop a better-for-you kids beverage with 1 gram of sugar and a taste kids will love,” said Rachel Drof, marketing director of Creative Roots. “We’re proud to provide a beverage option that parents will want to serve to their kids.”

Not sure if your kid is properly hydrated? A quick check of the color of their pee can help determine if they may need to hydrate. If their pee is dark yellow, reach for a beverage that will help replenish the body. A pale-yellow color can indicate proper hydration. Creative Roots created a pee scale to help you and your kids keep track and know when to hydrate.

Creative Roots is available in four kid-approved delicious flavors, including Watermelon Lemonade, Peach Mango, Orange Pineapple and Mixed Berry. The product sells in singles and four-packs with a nationwide suggested retail price of $1.29 for singles and $3.69 for a four pack. Each variety contains 15 calories per 8.5 fluid ounces to help kids get closer to their recommended daily fluid intake****.

And don’t forget to check the side of your Creative Roots bottle and meet the Sploots — the friendly, plant-powered characters you see on the packaging and in our ads. The fruit-inspired characters encourage overall health and wellness and remind kids of the importance of hydration!
